If you’re leaning towards wearing your hair down on your wedding day, you have a few options. However, there’s one important thing you have to keep in mind: How well will the style hold up? Originally, I was planning on wearing my hair à la Dita Von Teese, below (or the one with the hair clip, most likely). I had a trial hair/makeup session, where I tested out the red lips and side-part/1920′s look I wanted. The hairstylist wisely told me that before I settled on this particular hairstyle, I should see how it held up over the next 5 hours (which is how long I would need it to get me through the ceremony/reception). I have naturally curly/thick hair so I thought for sure the style would last. Nevertheless, my hair was droopy and lifeless by hour 3 (and also frizzy, thanks to the Florida weather). So, I scrapped my original plan and went with a “undone” up-do and a natural lip. Bottom line is: You should test out whatever hairstyle it is your want BEFORE the day of the wedding to see how you like it, especially a “down” do. Bonus if you can bring in your veil with you to test that out as well!
Here are a few of my favorite ways to wear your hair down for a wedding. They all have a similar vibe, but it’s mostly because I’m a fan of a loose curl, rather than the scrunchy ringlets you so often see. When you find an image of a hairstyle you like, it’s a good idea to e-mail it to your hairstylist before the trial/wedding day so she can have a point of reference.
